Questions about the multi-camera streaming course

Frequently asked questions

These answers cover prerequisites, learning activities and realistic outcomes. If your situation is not covered here, the contact page is the place to describe your setup.

  1. Do I need streaming experience before starting?

No prior streaming work is required. You should be comfortable using a computer, installing software and following written instructions. Some familiarity with a camera or a microphone helps, but each module starts from the basics of connecting and checking a signal, so a first-time operator can follow along.

  2. What will I actually practise during the course?

You work through six modules: camera connections, video switching, audio routing, encoder configuration, connection testing, and a full rehearsal with a written checklist. Each module combines short explanations with hands-on exercises, such as labelling feeds, building scenes, balancing microphones and setting bitrate for a given connection.

  3. Which types of cameras and connections are covered?

The connections module covers HDMI, SDI and network camera feeds, including how to label each source and check the signal before going live. The exact equipment you practise with depends on what is agreed for your setup, so tell us what you own or plan to buy.

  4. Can the course guarantee a stable stream at my venue?

No course can promise that. Stream quality depends on the venue connection, the destination platform and the equipment in use. What the course gives you is a method: test the upload, prepare a backup connection, set the encoder sensibly and rehearse, so problems appear before the audience arrives.

  5. Who teaches the modules?

Daniel Brooks leads video switching and has run multi-camera shows for small studios and panel events for over ten years. Megan Foster teaches audio routing as a live sound engineer. Priya Natarajan covers encoder settings, venue connections and testing before an event.

  6. Is the course suitable for business presentations and panel events?

Yes. The material is written for studio owners, event organisers and business teams. Scene building, microphone handling for several speakers and the pre-stream checklist apply directly to presentations and panels, as well as to small studio shows with two or more cameras.

  7. Will I rehearse a complete show?

Yes. The final module is a full dress rehearsal. You run cameras, sound, scenes and platform settings against a written checklist, from first signal check to the end of the show. The aim is to leave with a checklist you can reuse for your own events.

  8. What do I receive at the end, and can I enrol online?

You finish with practical skills, your own signal-flow notes and a pre-stream checklist. There is no accreditation or certificate, and no online enrolment on this site. To discuss your setup and next steps, send an enquiry through the contact form.
